10-months ago...........................

I had an eager 2nd grader!!

She was so excited to be entering the 2nd-grade, but then something happened. The first day of school, I didn't even get my "traditional first-day of school picture." Two-weeks later, things took a turn for the worst & she didn't like school anymore. She fought us every morning & we threatened to switch teachers. THEN, it stopped!! We're not exactly sure what went on or, most probably, she was "testing" us, but we all survived!!

Now, 10-months later...........here's our little 2nd-grader!!

She's excited for summer & 3rd grade!! I really hate this time of year. I cry everytime. It makes me realize 10-months has gone by & it's gone, except my pictures & memories. My baby is getting older & it won't stop. Yesterday I told her this time of year made me sad because she keeps getting bigger & older & I wish she would just stop. She replied......."Ya, I wish I were one-year old again:)" I do too baby.............I do too!!

Sketch This 51

Wanting to scrap some of the pictures from this weekend while they're fresh in my mind. I used the Sketch This #51 sketch. I also used some Queen & Co. felt (black) that I've had for a long time. I will say I wasn't very happy with it. It already comes with a sticky back & all you do is peel the paper off. The only prob................once you peel the paper off, the different "scrolls" on this design wanted to stick every which way, instead of the pattern they were supposed to be, so it was quite tricky. In the end, I didn't lay it on the paper straight & had to peel parts up to realign. I won't be buying anymore with the sticky backing unless someone can show me an easier way to adhere it.

I'm already working on another layout, but I have thank you cards to write-up & I'll be pretty busy for the rest of the week, into the weekend. Ashlyn & Camryn have their dance recital this weekend & I can't wait for it to be over. I'm anxious for summer to be here, it's been a very busy year!

Triple the Sketch #8, not to mention, I SURVIVED!!!!!

I finished up another layout using the Triple the Sketch #8. Simple enough, but I like how it turned out. Using a Prima paintable paper, American Crafts & Doodlebug letters.

In other, more exciting news, I survived the Rockin' Birthday/Pool party!! We had a wonderful time, and best I could tell, the girls had a BLAST!!! We had over 60 people in attendance with 31 girls staying over-night. Here are a few pics!!

This first picture is of the beach towels we gave the girls as their "goodie bag." Jeannie's mom made them into these adorable elephants & the girls (including myself)thought they were the coolest things. We gave them all Sharpies so they could sign each others towels, as a momento of the weekend. The ones with animal hats were for the younger, non-dancing, kids that attended.

Here's a group picture of the "gang." They stayed in the pool until after dark!!

The 2 birthday girls blowing out their candles. I strategically moved myself to take pictures. I wanted them from all angles & am so glad I "wiggled" my way to the front of the crowd for this one.

Once again, Jeannie's mom thought of EVERYTHING!! She bought these "bubba" & "bling" teeth, which the girls thought were a hoot. Here's Ashlyn & Corrin sporting their teeth!! Ironically, they sported these same teeth for the picture I included in their invitions.

I took tons more pictures, but since they're not my kids, I can't upload most of them. Suffice it to say, we survived!!! The last of the kids were asleep by 4:00 AM with Jeannie & I keeping watch from recliners in the living room. Jeannie's mom has a clock that chimes at the top of every hour AND every 15 minutes. I did NOT sleep at all. By 6:30, Jeannie's mom was banging around in the kitchen for breakfast & by 7:15, a majority of the girls were rustling around, looking very sleepy, but wanting breakfast. I was home by 10:00, showered & gone again by 11:00 for a picnic at the beach with William's family. Home by 2:30, napping by 2:40 & sound asleep within seconds. At my sisters by 6:00 for another cook-out, home by 10:00 & in bed for a good nights sleep by 10:30!!! I was one tired pup, BUT, it was a wonderful weekend & I would not have changed a thing!!

Triple the Sketch 8 in ROCK STAR fashion!!

I guess this has sorta turned into a "weekend birthday blog post" thingy?
So, I'm supposed to be making a cake, the likes of which will make you gain 5 lbs just by looking at it (I know I've already told you this, but I felt the need to remind you.) and I also decided to make my world famous "banana pudding."
I say it's world-famous only because my sweet 5-year old nephew loves me only for my banana pudding.
You see, I made it for a holiday occassion & he promptly (this is no lie) told his mother he didn't like her banana pudding anymore.
On the next occassion I had my sweet nephew at the house, he walked in & asked where was his banana pudding.
Of course, his mother (my sil) told him how rude that sounded & couldn't he say "hello aunt bootsie" first & that I would not have made banana pudding just for him.
So, I hear..."hello aunt bootsie. where's my banana pudding?"
To which I replied..."sweet lyle, I made some just for you!!!"
To which my sil said, "Please don't tell him you made it just for him, he'll think you did."
To which I replied...."I DID make it just for him:)" And, I did & he's loved me ever since.

But, onto my Rock Star blogging for the weekend. Here's my layout for Ashlyn's birthday and I used the Triple the Sketch #8. First, here's the infamous UL paper I've been hoarding & am so excited I not only used, BUT, I also used some of this delicious Creative Imaginations paper I've been hoarding. These pictures were taken about 6-months apart, but the first was on their bday in 2007. We went to Stone Mt., GA where they celebrated mountainside w/a cake. We told them we ordered the laser light show just for them, but they didn't buy that for one minute. I probably could have found a more recent 2008 picture then the January one I used, but I loved this one the best. The right-hand side to this page will be used for signatures & sentiments from her family & friends.

Now, off to make 2 birthday cards & then it's back to the grocery store. Seems I forgot a few necessities for my world-famous, 5 lb. gaining delectables!!!

They might even be ROCK STARS!!!

Or not?

Definitely Rock Stars!!!

Happy Birthday to "my other daughter," who turns 8 today!!
We have a whirlwind birthday weekend planned.
Today, after school, the girls are going for pedicures!
I didn't even know what the heck toenail polish was at 8!
Tomorrow, family will be headed to our house for a small get-together for Ashlyn, who's birthday is Sunday.
Later that afternoon, we head over to Meemaw's house for a pool/slumber party filled with 50+ dance girls.
Can you say...................................CRAZY!!!!!

The girls are so excited & I am too. It will be fun!
So, I have a cake to make, the likes of which will add 5 lbs. to anyone that simply looks at it:)
A birthday gift to buy................because I procrastinate that way.
A layout to make.........................I do this every year for the girls' birthday. I put a picture of them from the year before & add a picture of them on their current birthday. Then I ask all the birthday attendees to sign the page. I think it will be fun for them to look back on these in future years. I'm excited about this years page because there will be 50 party attendees signing, plus I finally have a use for the Urban Lily "Rock Star" paper I bought......................oh...........................2-3 years ago & kept holding onto it for whatever reason I didn't have & low & behold...................it will get used!!!
And we have dance practice tonight.
But, it all starts w/me getting off this computer & showering!!

Adios my friends & have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.........ours has just started!!!

Pencil Lines 85; CPS 65; a Coupon & a CONTEST!!!

I'm really excited about this layout......I like how it turned out.
First, I based this off of Pencil Lines sketch 85. Though it took me a day to complete, I wasn't frustrated w/the process. I knew it was coming together.
Here's why I like this one so much:
1) I layered!! Big woop..........I know, but for me that's a biggie. Layering is difficult for me
2) I love clustering..........it makes me feel warm & fuzzy inside:) So, I clustered my photos w/the flower & my journaling..........warm & fuzzy I tell ya!!
3) I used 3 different manufacturer papers AND I picked them out all by myself w/out help from my mom!! You can't even begin to imagine how difficult it is for me to mix & match manufacturers & patterns. Even though I'm a scrapper, creativity has never come easy for me.
4) Last & more importantly, I used TONS of older product on this layout. Product I've had for a long time & product I forgot I had. I so need to do this more often.

In a nutshell, I like this layout.................did I already say that?

Here's a card I made for the current CPS 65 sketch. I had a harder time then I thought w/the sketch, but love the color scheme. I had made a card sometime last year w/some bright colors against black & saw the card today & knew I wanted to use the color scheme again. Though it took me awhile to make, I like how it turned out.

I'm off to bed, but here is a coupon & information about a contest. Check it out!!

Triple the Sketch 6 & 7 ~ cards

I've already done a layout for this sketch, but I wanted to make a card too.
First, I want to know how long it takes you to make a card?
I already had the "shell" of this card, with flowers, on my desk.
I got started around 9:30 & didn't get finished until 11:00.
I couldn't get it to come together & I'm not real sure I'm pleased with the final card, but here it is.
After taking the picture, I realize you can't see the sentiment, but it's on the bottom left & reads "Happy Birthday."

On the flip-side, this card came together in a matter of 30 minutes. This is for Sketch 7 & I'm wanting to do a layout too. If you really think about it..........all sketches can be used for cards, tags & layouts. I just wish I had more time in the day:)

And to think I was going to try & get a layout done tonight too!!

Pencil Lines 83 & 84 (playing catch-up)

How was your weekend?
Mine was good.
The weather was wonderful, maybe a tad hot, but still nice.
The girls & I stayed outside most of the weekend.
It was so refreshing to see them playing & finding things to do. I let them have the waterhose, which kept them entertained for 3-hours. Camryn was exhausted afterwards, which left Ashlyn & I to finish up her birthday invitations.
They are now ready to be handed out today!!!
Sunday after church, Ashlyn practiced riding her bike some more. She's doing so well & I'm surprised at how easy it came for her.
I just don't remember how long it took me to learn.
We still have to work on turns & braking better, but she's riding all by herself & that's what counts right now.
We're also in the last 2-weeks of school, which means NO more homework.
I can't tell you how excited we are about that.

I also got some scrapping done. I didn't feel guilty since I spent so much time w/the girls & working on invitations. I felt I owed it to myself:) I'm behind in sketches, so here are my takes on Pencil Lines 84 & Pencil Lines 83

The story behind these pics..............Camryn is only about 18-months old & she started eating her pnut butter & jelly sandwiches this way. She would pull them apart, lick all the jelly from both sides, then poke her fingers through the bread. She rarely "ate" the sandwich. She still does this & I have no idea where she learned it.

I love how this page turned out, probably because I rarely use purple. The baby picture is me & while going through a drawer of printed pics, I saw so much similiarity in these 2 pictures & knew I wanted to scrap them. I showed them to Ashlyn & William and they thought the baby picture was her, until William realized the "aged" look of my picture.

I don't like how this card turned out. I feel like it's missing something in the top left corner, but I can't stress over a card. It's finished, unless an epiphany comes to mind, which is highly unlikely. The sentiment reads "get well."

I have lots to get done today, so I gotta run. I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

Sketch This 50

Here's my take on Sketch This 50. Some more Cosmo Cricket & their new blackboard. I'm a bit uncertain about the journaling on this. I keep going back to it & will probably stitch around it.......I'm just not happy w/it right yet.

In other news, I'd honestly like to say I've been scrapping, and I actually have, in a way, but it's very time-consuming & getting redundant. I volunteered myself to make 55 bday invitations. Keep in mind it's for two 8-year olds, but I tackled it like I would any other project. It has to be perfect..............and HOURS later, they are, but boy I wish I were finished. Here is a sample of one invite. I decided to finally use up my Scarlet's Letter I had been hoarding & never used. My sweet friend cut these cool guitars using her Cricut machine & I have been painstakingly piecing them back together & stamping. I've managed to only get 20 of the 55 done & they're not really done. I haven't gotten the information on the inside yet *someone please help me.........I'm drowning!!!* Since I'm using a patterned paper, each guitar looks different & this first one happens to be my favorite so far. I think it's the red pattern w/creme, green & gray. The second is the very first one I made & I like it too, just not as much as the other one.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good weekend!!

CPS 64 & a coupon

Here are a few things I've completed in the past day or so. The first is the CPS 64 sketch. Ain't he the cutest? I love these Cosmo Cricket blackboard shapes. I want to give this to a friend's son for his 3rd bday tomorrow, but I hate to part with it!! I'm greedy that way:)

Pics of some of Ashlyn's kindergarten work. She was so colorful back then. Not so much now, but then again I don't recall them doing anything quite like these paintings.

Okay, so gray is the new fall color & I'm really embracing it, especially w/some of the new K&Co products. I don't like how this turned out though & can't quite pinpoint what it is I don't like. I might end up taking it apart, which is something I don't normally do, but that's how unsettling this one is to me.

In other news.....................my sweet friend used her Cricut machine to cut me the coolest guitars for Ashlyn & Corrin's bday party invites. They're doing a Hannah Montana/Pool theme, so I decided guitars would be perfect. I think I need one of those machines now:) Can't wait to post one of 54 I have to make!!

Triple the Sketch #6

I'm finally getting my layout done for Triple the Sketch #6. I really didn't plan on being a week behind, again, but I haven't felt creative this week. So much going on & it's really more mental than anything. But, here it is & I "loosely" followed their sketch, but it gave me my jumpstart for sure. Sorry for the bad picture, but it's late & I wanted to get this posted. The little sparkles in the bottom right are sequin & the dot for the "i" is a crocheted flower w/a flower brad. The black flourishy things are some of Cosmo Crickets new blackboard that I love. I'm thinking I should have used some of Sassafrass's alphabet stickers, but these were on my desk. I used a Fiskar embossing punch at the top & then backed it w/some yellow paper. I liked it better then the plain kraft all the way to the top. I also haven't journaled yet because I really want Ashlyn's thoughts first. This was her first "friend" in school. They really enjoyed each other's company, but haven't been in class together since. Maybe 3rd grade?

I have managed to get 2 other layouts completed, but I'll wait until tomorrow for daylight. Not much else to say really................gosh...................I can't believe I just said that.

I'm a cheater.................

Hi, my name is Dawne & I cheat!
I don't cheat everyday, just every now & then
But I cheat.
I hope you'll still like me in the morning:)

I finished my Disney pics:)
In fact, I finished them with a 2-pager!!
NO WAY!!! Get Oughta here!!

Ya.............I cheat that way:)
Thanks to this post by Ali (scroll down to the bathtime layout), I was able to pick out 13 pictures that really captured the essence of our trip, minimal embellishments, because my focus is the pics & my journaling & I'm done. Keep in mind, some of the pics aren't even good, but it doesn't matter. They still convey the story of our trip. I used some Making Memories velvet alpha stickers I've had forever & some 7Gypsies Zanzabar rub-ons.

I was hoping to get another layout done, but computer probs once again & I'm tired!!
I hope you all have a wonderful mother's day.
Weather permitting, we'll be headed to the beach after church!!
Then I'm planning on grilling some shrimp!

Triple the Sketch #5

I never intended to make 2 posts in the same day, but livin' on the edge totally makes me do these things.

So, my nephew graduated from kindergarten tonight. So dang cute all those kids on stage & they were more interested in waving to their families. My nephew was the pig that built his house out of sticks. Complete with a pig costume & all and I can't wait for the pics.

I finally used the Triple the Sketch #5 layout & as usual, they're already on Sketch #6. I'm beginning my Disney 2006 photos & I'm searching for sketches & layouts using multiple photos. I'm NOT going to make an entire album out of these pictures. I totally hate themed albums *sorry!* So, here's my layout using some of the Sassafrass, which I adore. Not sure I like what I did here...................seems so much simplier than my previous ones of late, but it *feels* finished, so it must be.

I hope everyone has a great weekend planned for Mother's Day. Don't forget about the scrapping coupon to Just Let Me Scrapbook. Here's the info again:

It's also graduation day for my first nephew. He's graduating from kindergarten & they are having a ceremony. I guess this is a private school thing, as I don't remember Ashlyn doing this for kindergarten? Ought to be cute!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Who needs technology?

I surely don't!
Umpfh!
I snub my nose at it all *snub snub*

Let me take you back to a different time & day..................say....................yesterday afternoon.
I managed to get ready & pack with enough time to finish the Triple the Sketch NSD layout.
NO YOU DIN'T?
Oh yes I did!
But do you think my photo editing program was going to cooperate with me?
Oh please.................it was obviously taking a break on NSD & wasn't about to be bothered with the likes of me.
So, I had to leave town before I could upload my finished layout.

I get home this afternoon only to have to reboot my computer.
But do you think it's going to reboot itself?
Um............................that would be NO!
In fact, not only will it not reboot, once it does, I can't access any programs & I have to reboot it again.
I'm finally going now. Not pleased in the least, as my iPod is now locked up with no hopes of unlocking until the battery dies.
And, to top it off, we didn't win the Lottery.

Now, please tell me.....................wuz up with all dat??

The photo isn't the greatest, but here's my layout (from yesterday) using Triple the Sketch's NSD layout. I used a lot of the new Fancy Pants felt stuff I've had for ages & my new Martha Stewart butterfly punch. LOVE this thang!! The complete title reads "baby's got blue eyes except when they're green" I had to do that because when she was this age, they were blue. They're now green, or blue, or gray, depending on what she's wearing, but definitely NOT brown!!!

And with that I'll tell you Ashlyn's "quartet," as she so fondly calls it, placed High Gold this weekend. We're proud of her, as this was a step-up in her dancing career!! She's a bit timid on stage & has a lot of growing, but we're glad she enjoyed this weekend!

I would write more, but I really wanted to scrap again, but I'm so tired. We did not get any sleep in our hotel last night. NONE!!! So, 6:00 came too quickly & I'm sleepish *yawn*

Happy National Scrapbook Day

I hope it's been a productive & fun day.
If not productive, at least, FUN!!! Because, in the grand scheme of life, that's really what it's all about.

I've completed 2 layouts & have to call it quits for an hour or so. Gotta get myself ready to leave tonight, which means making sure I've got everything packed. Hoping to have another hour or so to scrap before I leave.

So, I present to you my take on Sketch This 48 and Triple the Sketch 4. I liked both of these sketches & they really are versatile, but I don't like how my Triple layout turned out. By no means is it the fault of said Sketch, though I'd like to find fault in something else, other than my scrapping skills, but alas...........it truly is that I think my layout turned out suckish (is that a word?) I do plan on doing a card for both of these sketches, but I noticed Triple posted a new sketch for NSD & I'd love to try my hand at that one too.

So, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this layout. Your eyes do not deceive you, so quit rubbing them............I changed the coloring in the photo. I wanted it to look that way. Why you ask? Who knows........I just did & I LOVE it. Can you see the butterfly? It's part of the paper & I simply cut around it, so the wings would stick out AND (as if that's not enough for you), I added glitter to the outer edges. NOW....................that's serious edge livin' folks!!

Here, sadly enough, is my Halloween layout, even though it's not Halloween. I couldn't use a blue background because me & blue aren't having a good day. So, I chose the orange & I like orange (we get along), but I'm not liking something about this. Can you find it? If so, please let me know.........I'm losing sleep over this one. This layout has to do w/the fact I have NO left-handed chidren & I was so hoping Camryn would be the ONE. She's not!!

Okay, off to get ready & hopefully scrap a few more things before I have to leave.

Friday, May 2, 2008

Strategize

I like that word.
Did I spell it correctly? Hmmmmm......

Tomorrow is National Scrapbook Day. Who here forgot?
Um, that would be ME!!

This weekend is Ashlyn's final dance competition. We don't compete until Sunday & I'm "strategizing."
Yes............that would be me.
Completely forgetting tomorrow is NSD, I planned for Ashlyn to leave w/friends Saturday morning & Camryn will go to Grammie's until William picks her up around 4:00ish?

That's when I remembered tomorrow is NSD!!! Which means, that will then leave me to scrap all day, if I so please.
And, I just might please!!
But, I'm not done strategizing.

I have costumes & accessories to pack, make-up & overnight "things."
I'm not a "last minute" person, by any means.
Because I'm not, I tend to not be able to relax until I know all these things are accomplished.
Once they are, I am free to scrap til my hearts content.............well maybe not that long, but you get the picture.

William also went out & bought 2 baby ducks today. He's such a "livin' on the edge kinda guy." That is totally why I married him. I mean, how often does YOUR husband come home with 2 baby ducks?

Ya...........didn't think so.

I don't have pics right now, but I'll upload some later than sooner. They're cute enough & I keep telling the girls to name them Mickey & Minnie. I mean, Donald & Daisy are so over-rated & I secretly think they like Mickey & Minnie better!!!

Here's the 2 bookmarks I made using some Pink Paislee products. One is for me & the other for Ashlyn. She was so excited about hers..................gosh, it's the little things really (& maybe 2 baby ducks).

Don't forget about the NSD sale going on at Just Let Me Scrapbook. 35% is a good discount, especially when it's off your ENTIRE purchase, not just one item. So, please, go shop............my pocketbook can't afford another thing!!

Thursday, May 1, 2008

Sometimes I have nothing to say.................

but don't you worry. Today isn't one of those days!!

In fact, I can't recall a day where I usually don't have something to say. Keep in mind, it might not be worth hearing, repeating or listening to for that matter...............point is...........I like to hear myself talk. So much so, as I was carrying on a very intense, conversation with myself this morning, Camryn asks me what I'm talking about. Note, she didn't ask WHO I was talking to. Nope, they know not to ask me that. I'm too busy carrying on a 2-way conversation with myself to answer yet a 3rd party. Too much for my wee brain.

So, I did a little shopping yesterday, because I really didn't need to. I went to Michael's & Hobby Lobby. Didn't make it to JoAnn's because I had already spent $40.00. I have to draw a line somewhere folks. If you haven't been to Michael's lately, it might be worth the trip. They have some of the nicest new K&Co items in stock. I never used to like K&Co, but boy do they have some of the prettiest things. They are also carrying some Prima products now, some of which were newly released at CHA 08, plus some new Bazzill packs (smaller sizes), and SEI (LOVE this new line, but couldn't bring myself to buy it). And to think I went in to see if they had the new Making Memories Noteworthy II line. Dang good thing they didn't. I really had to pick & choose, so I walked out with a package of K&Co fabric covered brads, package of paper vintage die-cuts, Prima flower jewel centers, SEI decorative brads & a small package of Prima flowers. At the Lobster, I managed to get some items that were on-sale or clearanced, so my $20.00 was well spent. I'm all about that!!

In other news, I did this layout 2-3 days ago. The best thing about this layout? I did NOT use a sketch. *gasp!!* Amazing I know, but I've told you before & if you don't believe me yet...............I SIMPLY LIVE ON THE EDGE!!! That is so totally me & this layout just proves that. Yes, that is cork on the right-hand side.

In yet more news (boy I'm full of it today), I'm on page #33 of the May issue of Cards magazine. A baby card I made for a friend & had to ask for it back (hehehehe!). So, if you're somewhere.............oh yes, Michael's maybe.............see if they have the magazine & check out my card. I got my goody box w/card in the mail yesterday. I got 2 copies of the magazine, one of which I'll probably give to the recipient of the card & I'll keep the other. As far as the free product? Well, I think I'm gonna give that away too. I got a ton of Around the Block papers, some Bazzill buttons & some SEI stickers.....................I'm thinking I won't use them. Trying to decide if I should do a RAK or just give them to someone. *NOTE TO SELF: Remember, you don't have frequent visitors to your blog because you're entertaining & brilliant in a scrappy sort of way. Best bet is to just give them to someone.*

And, that's all I have for now. I did make a cute bookmark with the Spring Fling Pink Paislee line, but I'll have to post it later. Don't forget about the contest Just Let Me Scrapbook is having with these products. I hope you will enter.

And, don't forget about the National Scrapbook Day coupon, here!!

Thanks for visiting!!
