1) go to www.scrapfabulous.com & register as a member, if you're not already
2) Participate in games, challenges, message board & praise ALL week
3) HAVE FUN
4) tell your friends to join you
5) email me & let me know you are participating because you read my blog

NO, I'm not asking you to leave whatever site you normally visit. I'm just asking you to come for a week full of games, challenges & fun!!

I mean come-on....you'll be in good company and you'll get some projects done:) I really do hope you'll join me...it will be loads of fun!

Tagged

Wow!! This is a milestone for me:) Didn't know I had enough friends to be tagged, but then again, it only takes one!! Thanks Pam! Okay, here's how it works

Pam tagged me! Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to blog about their seven things and post the rules as well. At the end of your post, choose 7 people to tag and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog! OK, here goes...

1) I am one of 6 siblings & love it (3 girls, 3 boys).

2) I am 1/2 Japanese & enjoy the benefits of my olive complexion.

3) I was in Honor Society in high school.....don't know what happened afterwards?

4) I was born in New Orleans, LA. Sounds simple enough, but I've never met anyone else born there. Were me & my brother the only 2?

5) My father was in the Navy for 22 years, but a military brat I am/was not. With 4 kids in the family, no time for that.

6) I have an immense fear of roaches.

7) I didn't finish college because I really do hate school!

So a few more things about me you may or may not have known. Add those to the bio ya'll are writing! I'm tagging, LaTonya, Ruth, Karan, Nancy, Di, Amy, and Carla.

Happy Thursday & don't forget about ScrapFabulous's National Scrapbook Week starting April 30th!!!

Inspiration comes but when we open our eyes & see!

I'm inspired. By what? So many things in life, but this morning:

  1. I'm inspired by the people who leave comments on my blog. No, I do not blog because everyone else does, so I don't look for people to anxiously await my next post. But the mere fact that people do read my blog & comment, inspires me & leaves me with a good feeling.

  2. I'm inspired by all the talented works of art I see in different scrapping galleries. So much dang talent & yet so many go unnoticed in the "industry." Keep scrapping my friends because you are leaving a legacy that cannot be duplicated.

  3. By music that makes me cry, dance & feel all warm & good inside (Did I mention Maroon 5's new CD release:)

  4. By 2 1/2 year-olds that say & do things that only they can say & do. Their look, mannerisms, talk, walk & a love that overflows the earth.

  5. When my, almost 7-year old, tells me she thinks my art is beautiful. Doesn't get much better then that!!
  6. By a layout I created of 2 beautiful girls. How can one not be inspired by them?

These are just a few things that inspire me to see a beautiful world, create beautiful art & love beautifully. The world truly is a beautiful place to live, if we would only open our eyes and see!!

So, I'm off my soap-box & I'm headed to Foley today. Meeting up with my good friend, LaTonya, to do some shopping. This girl inspires me immensely. Words cannot describe the type of friend she is, but I strongly suggest you all get one:)

What is my purpose?

The other day I was reading Cathy Zielske's blog, because I love too. She made a point that hit straight home for me....made me stop & really assess why I scrapbook.

I love to create beautiful works of art.......at least beautiful to me! Things that make me smile & look pretty on my walls. But, what is the purpose of these pretty works of art? As I'm attempting to scrap this photo tonight, I'm in awe of this gorgeous smile & how happy she looks. Then I remember why she's so happy.......we were at Coach-n-Four, a local restaurant, and they were singing happy birthday to her. I think this is the first time she's ever had that done to her in public & you can tell by the look on her face that's she's thoroughly enjoying herself. THIS, my friends, is what I should be recording. THIS memory of a special moment for my girl. THIS moment that she can look back on & tell her kids.
Why are you scrapping? Are you taking pictures of special moments & then scrapping them to look pretty? Or are you scrapping them to record the memories behind them? I won't always be around to tell my girls about their childhood & I want them to know how loved they were & the good times we had together. I can do this with my scrapbooking, but only if I record the memories.
I think you get the jest. At least I did...............THANKS Cathy Z.......just another reason I love your style!

A new day

brings new blessings & that is one thing I know for sure.

Baby Colby passed away Saturday night. The family decided to donate his internal organs to another little boy. Because of their selfless actions, the other little boy will live. The Kelly family is holding strong to their Christian faith & in the end, that's all we really have. Not sure when the funeral will be, but I continue to pray for this family. I think tougher times are still ahead.

On a more positive note, I made the Design Team for http://www.scrapfabulous.com/designTeam.htm! Stoked? Uh..........ya.........just a little!! Check me & the great new team out. I'm even more excited one of my very best friends, LaTonya Boike, is also on this team. We've been wanting to be on a team together for a while now, so this is just icing on the cake for me. My term at AMM ended March 31st, so this is very exciting for me. If you haven't checked out ScrapFabulous, I encourage you to. We'll have a digi section for you digi scrappers & we currently have, Amy (mac), who is an awesome digi/hybrid/paper scrapper to head this department up. There is also a Contest & Challenge, so be sure to check those out in the "CHALLENGES" section. There are prizes & RAKS involved with both of these, so I hope to see your creations.

Ashlyn starts her Stanford 9 testing at school this week. I'm so nervous for my little girl. She's been studying hard for months on this test & I totally dislike how our school system has become so consumed in these tests. The teachers hate they can't just come to school & "teach" the kids & I, as a parent, hate the added stress it adds to the life of a mere 1st grader. She's not supposed to have homework for the next 2 weeks, but her teacher has already informed me that we need to work with her on her paragraph writing skills. YEP, you read correctly.....1st graders writing paragraphs!! They're just learning to spell & read for goodness sake!!! So, I'm anxious to see how her first day goes!!

I hope everyone has a great Monday & a very blessed week. I know I will:)

Thanks for visiting!!
