Happy National Scrapbook Day & 2S4U

Are you scrappin' today?
I'm trying:)
It's so gloomy over here.
The rain has stopped
& the sun was supposed to be out by noon,
but I think someone forgot to tell him:)
So, the girls are with the in-laws
& I'm trying to scrap,
but I keep getting sidetracked!!

I might have several posts today.
So, if you have time in between scrapping,
I hope you'll come back to visit.
First up are a few projects I made
for Scrap Happy,
who is hosting their 2nd annual NSD crop.
I can't remember who makes the background paper,
but I paired with My Minds Eye papers & stickers
& a few sticker accents from Jillibean Soup.

For this gift set,
I used a Cosmo Cricket black box.
The idea is to fill with candy
& then they can put the lid on the underside
& use to store pens, pencils & scissors?
For the card,
I used Kazan's #51 sketch at 2S4U.

Off to get some lunch,
get a few more projects completed
& maybe one more post today!!
Happy Scrappin'!!!

Card Patterns #57 & Scrap Happy projects

Happy weekend everyone!!
Been working on more
projects for Scrap Happy.
Here are a few more using
My Minds Eye "Mary Mary" papers
mixed with Making Memories Lush.
For the card, I used
the current Card Patterns #57 sketch.
This is a quick altered acrylic frame.
I love these pics of the girls
& wanted a little something
to display them in for the house.
I showed a side profile,
in case you're wondering
what type of frame it is.

I've also been working with
the My Minds Eye "Little Boy Blue" papers.
I'll show those projects Sunday or Monday?
Have a blessed Sunday!!

2 Sketches 4 U & ScrapHappy

Did I say my hiatus was over?
*oops*
I did get busy yesterday
& this morning,
using new My Minds Eye, Quite Contrary
& Making Memories Lush from Scrap Happy.
To kick things off,
I started with the current sketch
over at 2 Sketches 4 U.

The rest are self-explanatory.
I did use Tattered Angels mist on these eggs.
Aren't they cute?
Embellished the top of the flower
with some felt, pearl rhinestones & a brad.

This was made using a french fry container.
I also made the little felt flower.
I find the felt so much easier to use than ribbon.
I'll definitely be making more.

One more card using
another flower I made using fabric & tulle.
I will definitely be making more of these too.

Welp, off to scrap more.
I've got some of the My Minds Eye,
Little Boy Blue collection to work with!!

I Kid Not

For how long now have I been saying,
"I have projects to upload,"
yet you haven't seen them?
Welp, here are SOME of them.
I forgot to retake pictures,
so these are ones I finished up
last night & today.
The others will remain unseen for now.
These will all be gifts to family.
The first is my annual ornament.
I got this idea from Jenni Bowlin 4-years ago.
I make them for my tree every year
& decided to make this for someone else.
Mine's already on my tree,
& I'm too lazy to get it for a picture:)
These next projects
are an idea I got here.
I used a larger size chalkboard ($1.99)
& on this first one,
I used Asian coins,
but I didn't glue them down.
To adhere the ribbon,
I used a regular stapler.
My local scrapbook store
wanted me to make one,
but she asked me to use these clipboards
she already had in stock.
So I did & it turned out great.
To adhere the ribbon,
use a Crop-o-Dile to punch holes
through the pressed board.

I still feel like I have so much to do.
I have other gifts I'm planning on making,
but some involve home-made cookies,
which won't get made until this week!!
And,
I haven't done any Christmas shopping
*sigh*

ScrapHappy Pensacola projects

Welp, today's the day:)
I'll be picking up my sister
& 3 nieces this afternoon.
We see each other every summer,
but it's not the same
as if we lived in the same town!!
My brother will also be traveling from KY
this weekend,
& we'll all get-together for dinner
& a group "cousins" picture.

So, this will be my last post for about 2-weeks.
Today I'm showing my July projects for Scrap Happy,
the local scrapbook store in Pensacola.
I got to play w/some new Basic Grey & Cosmo Cricket.
I showed you a couple of the cards in this post,
but here's the rest of them.
I intended to make about 10-cards to fit in this box,
but I'm a bulky card scrapper
& 5 "barely" fit in the box.

I also altered this metal box.
A very simple alter,
intended to be filled with coughdrops
and/or teabags for someone not feeling well.

So off to exercise & finish a few things
before running a few errands
& heading to the airport!!

Finally Friday!!

This week has been so busy,
and it's seemed never-ending.
Yesterday I mentioned the wonderful
teacher gifts Danni Reid has been creating.
Here is my take on one that I LOVED!!

So what are your weekend plans?
We have some kids from our church,
trying to raise money to go to Romania,
coming tomorrow to do yard work!!
I'm sooooooooooooooooooo excited!!
This is more of a Father's Day gift,
but in a big way,
it's a Mother's Day gift too,
because it frees hubby up to be w/family!!
And to me that is priceless!!
Otherwise, I'm plodding away at various projects:
4 mini album kits for Ashlyn's bday party sleep-over
& more pages for a Sr. album I've been hired to do.
NEVER AGAIN!!
The lady has been an absolute joy to work with,
but it's time-consuming & well.....
it's just not my album.

I hope every mother out there
has a Blessed, wonderful, loved & happy
Mother's Day.

NSD hangover?

Hehehehehe
I don't really have one,
but thought some of you might?
How was your National Scrapbook Day weekend?
If you got to participate, somewhere, anywhere,
I hope it was productive & FUN!!
I taught a class & make-n-take
at my lss & enjoyed myself completely.
I also got a few layouts completed.
I'm actually surprised I got this many done,
because I didn't even try to get anything done,
it just kinda happened? (is that possible in the scrapping world?)
I finally got Sassafras's Jungle Bungle in
& it's the cutest stuff, plus I love the colors.
These first 2 were inspired by the incredible Danni Reid.

These others are just miscellaneous layouts.
I need to do journaling on the boots & spider layouts,
but otherwise they're finished.

Then, as I was shopping for Ashlyn's bday party (in 2-weeks)
I ran into a friend who reminded me this week is
Teacher Appreciation Week!!
How could I forget this?
I have 3 teachers to remember?
Luckily Ashlyn's school sent home a list of ideas
with popcorn being Tuesday's idea.
So, I quickly threw these together for teachers.

And latestly, I want to give a HUGE shout-out
to the new 2S4U Summer Design Team.
Have you checked them out yet?
Whoa..........serious talent.
I've already visited their blogs
& will be stalking weekly!!
I'll continued to do the weekly challenges,
as time permits, but I might be scarce this month!!
Hope you have a wonderful week!!

2 Sketches 4 U - Scor-It Tutorial

This week at 2 Sketches 4 U,
the design team was sponsored by Score-It.
Each of us was generously given a Mini Scor-It
& I can't say enough about this wonderful tool!!
Not only is it easy to use,
but since I'm left-handed,
they have made it easy for us "lefties" to use!!
Here is the project I made using the Score-It.
I made a gift-card holder
& then placed it inside this little basket.
It was an easy project,
& I didn't even use a template!!!

The first thing to remember when making a score that will fold is it's VERY important that you lay your project face down on the mat. In other words, the side you score should be the INSIDE of the project. Then simply start your tool in the notch above where your paper lays and start your score.
You will see I placed the gift card on my paper,
as a guide as to where to place my score lines.

Once I scored the top & bottom of the gift card,
I simply folded my paper over & it folds so easily too.

Next, I wanted to made some inside edges that would keep the gift card "inside" the holder.
So, I scored (using the gift card as my guide), along the left & right edges.

Then I simply folded the left & right edges in towards the gift-card
& then cut the excess from the top & bottom folds.

Here is what it looks like folded together with the gift-card inside.
You'll notice I also used a border punch.

I also used the Score-It to make lines that were decorative
& not necessarily to be folded, like you will see in the next 2 pictures.

And the finished product.
I used some velcro to keep the entire thing closed.

And now for the basket:
I started by cutting a circle & NOT removing the circle cutter from the paper.
By doing this, I could keep the "center" of the circle.

I traced a rectangular piece in the middle.

And then scored over the pencil lines.

Using a ruler, I drew lines, extending from the corners of the rectangle,
to the outer edge of my circle.

And then I scored these lines.

Once I had all my lines scored,
you can see I simply folded them "inward" & glued them together.

And my finished basket,
which I stuffed w/shredded patterned paper
& used eyelets to hold the ribbon.

Still enjoying some time in SanDestin.
The girls are w/my in-laws,
headed to Six Flags over GA.
I will miss them tremendously.
This is the first time they've taken a trip w/out me!!
I see lots of house-cleaning!!

Monday sketch @ 2Sketches 4 U

A new sketch is up at 2Sketches 4 U.
It's Kazan's turn for Sketch 23
& I enjoyed working with her sketch.
You should see the projects by the design team!!
Each week they blow me away w/their creativity
& diversity of style.
I hope you will check out their work too.
I'm still trying to use up older stash,
so I was inspired to pull out some SEI.
I didn't intend on making anything Christmas related,
but it ended up that way,
so why not use it all:)
This is a gift set I made
& I'm hoping you can tell I incorporated the sketch
on all 3 items, but more loosely on the tag.

This week is a busy week,
as I get everything ready for our Spring Break.
This week Berdien made a bonus sketch w/card
& I'm hoping to make a card before I leave.
I hope you have a blessed, beautiful Monday!

Thanks for visiting!!
